Into the Quiet (2024)

What happens when you go on the road indefinitely, and a decade passes by?

The stories in this document are part of a series, ‘Kismuth & The Way II’ which was commissioned by Saathee Magazine, for its January-April 2024 issues. 

It picks up the thread after a two-year break from Kismuth & The Way columns for that publication, while the author sorted out her next directions. Suddenly, ‘going somewhere new and writing about it’ came to a hard stop, due to covid, personal finances being thinner during the time of uncertainty, lack of interest in writing outside her innermost circles for a long spell, the real fact of closures of borders, extraordinary moments of wondering about visa extensions and the stress along with that, estrangement from family and friends all around the world, finding the peacefulness of solitude and preferring that to writing columns, and, of course, coming to terms with all that used to be clear suddenly being... not. 

You can read the column online, or in this collection, which also includes the author's original photographs and commentary between chapters that is not available anywhere else.

Like all of Kismuth books, It's designed to be read in the course of an afternoon, short and sweet. There is more to say, but to write it all here would be to over-explain 'Into the Quiet', which I think is best not-done.
